Starting just south-west of Cairns and rising more than 900m above sea level, the Atherton Tableland is a fertile volcanic region, a haven for many bird species and an incredible range of wildlife including the elusive platypus and the rare Lumholtz’s tree-kangaroo.


Native habitat of many species of plants and animals of universal value, these ancient Gondwana Rainforests represent exceptional examples of major stages of the Earth’s evolutionary history and exceptional biological diversity.


Originally Australia was populated only by the Indigenous people of Australia – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. There were many different communities made up of people who spoke many different languages.


Many have tried to capture and communicate the complexity, biodiversity, size and amazing beauty of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. It’s no easy task this is a living natural wonder that defies simple description having evolved since before human occupation of the adjacent mainland.


Even if you are stressed for time, in Cairns for a brief stopover, or you’ve missed your connection we have some options to help you pass the time and give you some insights into life “up here” that just might persuade you to want to come back for a longer visit.


Expect a relaxing hippy vibe, stay for a day or two, there’s plenty of places where to stay, walking tracks and creeks and waterfalls to visit, great food options that showcase the cultural diversity of this village and really good shopping featuring many of the local artists and artisans who call Kuranda home.


Do you pick up from Port Douglas and Palm Cove?

Yes, we pick up from Cairns, the Northern Beaches of Cairns and Port Douglas, the pickup time though will vary depending on the tour of your choice and pick up location. Usually, pickups are between 8 and 9 am.

Is there much walking in your tours?

We very much like to include walks in our itineraries and we always tailor the tour experience to your pace and preferences. There are many walking options in and around the Kuranda Markets, the River Walk, the Jungle Walk, Jumrum Creek Walk and the refreshing Barron Falls Walk. They are all nice and easy.

How long are your tours?

Usually the length of the tours are between 6 and 8 hours, but can vary from day to day.

What level of fitness is required?

Our itineraries have a wide range of activities suited to every age and fitness level and we always strive to tailor the itinerary to suit your requirements.

I am visually impaired, will your tours be right for me?

Yes, our tours are most definitively suited for visually impaired people and easily adjust to accommodate people with a range of disabilities.
